Electric freight operators have long struggled with slow charging, short battery life, winter range loss, and mismatched charging infrastructure. CATL's new TIANXING II light-commercial superfast-charging battery aims to solve all of these problems.
On July 10, CATL officially unveiled the TIANXING II Light-Commercial Superfast-Charging Edition power battery. The company says this product pushes the logistics industry into an era of fuel-equivalent efficiency, thanks to 8C peak charging capability. The launch marks a major step forward for electric light commercial vehicles, where charging speed, durability, and cold-weather performance have been key barriers.

Charging as Fast as Refueling – 8C Peak Rate

The TIANXING II is the only logistics-sector battery to achieve an 8C peak charging rate. In practical terms, it reaches 80% state of charge in just 6 minutes and 48 seconds, and a full charge in 8 minutes and 56 seconds. That brings EV refueling times close to conventional diesel or petrol vehicles. For fleet operators, this means less downtime and more flexible route planning.
Key specs:
• 8C peak charging rate
• 6:48 to 80% SoC
• 8:56 to full charge
• 10-year / 1 million km warranty

Built to Last – 10-Year, 1 Million km Warranty

Durability is often a hidden problem for commercial EVs. CATL addresses this with a 10-year / 1 million kilometer warranty for the TIANXING II. The cell internal resistance has been cut to just 50% of the industry average, reducing heat buildup during high-current fast charging. Atomic-scale interface reconstruction on graphite particles also minimizes active lithium loss and slows cell degradation.
The result is a battery that outlasts the vehicle itself, ensuring vehicle-battery co-life and preserving higher resale value. For fleet owners, this improves total cost of ownership.
Cold-weather performance: At -20°C, the TIANXING II adds only 2 minutes 30 seconds to charging time compared to optimal conditions. This effectively removes the cold-weather barrier for electric logistics in northern regions.

Swap-Charge Integrated Stations – Closing the Last Mile

To support the battery's ultra-fast charging, CATL also launched passenger-commercial integrated swap-charge stations. These stations serve multiple logistics scenarios including urban delivery, intercity transport, cold-chain, and last-mile distribution. They offer flexible ultra-fast charging and optional battery swapping.
Each station comes with customized ultra-fast chargers, with power output tuned for light-commercial battery requirements. CATL also adjusted charging cable length and connector positioning to fit micro-vans and light trucks, making it easier for drivers to plug in.

4,000 Stations by 2026 – Covering 190 Cities

CATL has set an ambitious target: 4,000 integrated swap-charge stations operational by the end of 2026, covering nearly 190 cities across China. This scale will reduce the time drivers spend searching for charging points and waiting in queues.
For fleet managers, the combination of 8C ultra-fast charging and a dense station network means electric light commercial vehicles can finally compete with diesel trucks on both range and turnaround time.
As the TIANXING II scales up production and rolls out to more vehicle models, the vision of all-region, all-weather ultra-fast charging for electric LCVs is becoming a reality. CATL's latest move strengthens its position in the commercial battery market and sets a new benchmark for logistics electrification.
