BEIJING — At the 2026 Open Compute Project China Summit (OCP China 2026) on July 9, EVE Energy presented its full range of Battery Backup Unit (BBU) products for AI data centers. The company positions the lineup as the core building block of its end-to-end energy storage architecture for AI data centers. The event brought together industry leaders to discuss next-generation AI data center infrastructure, 800V HVDC power delivery, and computing–energy collaboration.
Dr. Zhang Xinyi, Director of the New System Research Center at EVE Energy's Battery System Research Institute, gave a keynote on transformative trends in AI data centers and energy storage innovation. Her talk stressed the company's focus on closing the gap between surging compute demand and resilient power infrastructure.
H2: Full-Link Storage from Rack to Grid
As AIGC training and inference scale up, data centers face exponential peak loads, millisecond-level UPS requirements, and 24/7 renewable peak shaving. EVE Energy's full-link energy storage portfolio covers rack, distribution, and grid-connected tiers.
At rack level, its BBU solutions for GPU servers smooth high-frequency power fluctuations during model iteration, preventing training interruptions. On the distribution side, the Panshield Series 6C/10C high-rate backup cabinets work from –30°C to 80°C for short-duration backup. On the source-grid side, the Mr. Big Family long-duration energy storage systems pair with wind and solar, using EVE prismatic stacking cells with ultra-safe design and long float life to give always-on AIGC clusters a stable power base.
H3: Why 800V HVDC and BBU Matter for AI Loads
Dr. Zhang noted that AI compute clusters are pushing the industry toward 800V HVDC architecture. For AI training's high-amplitude, frequent load swings, EVE BBU gives two things: millisecond-level power takeover during grid anomalies to keep compute running, and rack-level distributed storage that dampens instantaneous surges. This covers gaps that capacitors and diesel gensets can't.
H3: Four R&D Pillars and Long-Term Roadmap
EVE Energy is advancing four core pillars: cell-performance upgrades, high-density power electronics, liquid-cooled thermal management for BBU, and intelligent active control. R&D has run system simulations, safety-combustion tests, and extreme-load validation. Ongoing work includes liquid-cooled BBU units and full-system safety certifications.
"A watt of compute needs a watt of reliable storage," a company representative said. Through its full-link AIDC framework, EVE Energy invites BBU procurement partners and OEM integrators to co-build solutions — using mature self-developed products for immediate deployment, joint R&D for frontier tech, and ecosystem collaboration for compute–energy synergy at GW scale.
